Cwmduad Peter Pan- WoodyWoody is my 14.2hh, 16 year old, Welsh x Thoroughbred, bay, gelding. I got him when I was 11 and have had him 5 years and over these 5 years we have experienced a lot, good and bad, but we are better and stronger for it.
After getting the buzz for eventing with Frank it was definite that this was the path I wanted to go down, this was where Woody came in! We travelled to pick him up on fireworks night, this may have not been the best idea as a new home and fireworks are not the best combination. Woody took me to my first ever British Eventing event at Shelford Manor BE80. We came 2nd with a 36% dressage double clear!! In the season of 2013 we went on to get a further 2 top 10 placings and moved up to BE90! Sadly our season ended quickly with me falling at Brooksby in the show jumping and breaking my ankle... In 2014 we had another 2 top 10 placings in both BE80 and BE90, but then got elminated at Shelford BE90 in the show jumping, we knew something was wrong... After around 5 visits to Cambridge Equine Hospital Woody was cleared of both stomach ulcers and bone spavins, which eventually lead to him having his hocks fused. We restarted eventing in 2015, completing only 3/5 competitions, with some big show jumping problems. The tough decision came to stop show jumping and carry on with our dressage something we always scored well in. This was possibly the best decision ever made and we finished 2016 with 6 top 14 placings at 6 different National Championships! Woody is such a gentleman, all ways trying his very hardest even if he is pain... Together we have been through some very low points in our career, all of them we have come out the other side of making us fight and work hard to make the better days even more special! Thank you Woody x |
